Athangudi & Heritage Cement Tiles

Hand-poured cement tile in the Athangudi tradition — pigment cured under the sun, never baked. A floor that has cooled Chettinad mansions for over a century, curated for today's Kerala homes.

What makes Athangudi tiles different

Athangudi tiles are made one at a time: pigment is poured over a glass base, backed with local sand and cement, then cured in water and sun rather than fired in a kiln. The result is a surface with depth of colour no printed tile can imitate — and one that grows smoother and richer with years of footfall. Each batch carries small variations of hand-making; that is the point, not a defect.

Where they belong

Living rooms and verandahs that open to the Kerala light, bedrooms that want warmth underfoot, heritage renovations, cafés and boutique stays that need character. Because the pigment runs deep rather than sitting on the surface, these floors handle decades of use. We advise on sealing and care for Kerala's humidity as part of every specification.

How Ceramiq One curates them

We work with makers continuing the Athangudi and wider South-Indian cement-tile tradition, and match pattern, border and field tiles to your room — not from a fixed catalogue. Custom colourways and patterns can be poured to order. No minimum order, pan-India delivery, and installation by our own certified tilers in and around Thiruvananthapuram.

Price guidance

As a premium studio our tiles start above ₹150 per square foot; handmade heritage cement typically sits above that depending on pattern complexity and quantity. Exact pricing is quoted per project after a showroom or site consultation — bring drawings, references, or just an idea.

Frequently asked questions

Are Athangudi tiles suitable for Kerala's climate?

Yes — they are made for it. Cement tiles stay cool underfoot and handle humidity well when correctly sealed. We specify sealing and maintenance for each project.

Can I order custom colours or patterns?

Yes. Custom colourways, patterns and borders can be poured to order — customisation is the studio's foundation, not an add-on service.

What is the price of Athangudi tiles at Ceramiq One Designs?

Handmade heritage cement tiles are quoted per project, typically above ₹150 per square foot depending on pattern and quantity. Visit the Thiruvananthapuram showroom or call for a consultation.
