Where Design Begins For Us
The Search That Started This
My first encounter with design as a discipline came in the Middle East, where I studied as an undergraduate. Years later, after research work in electronics engineering in Australia, I returned to India looking for tile for my own home — Azulejo, subway, something honest. What I found instead was an industry selling tile as procurement, not as design.
The longer I looked, the more I realised that five thousand years of tile history were already alive in India's own buildings. Each tradition I encountered had been solving for light and climate and meaning long before the word ‘design’ entered the conversation.
Ceramiq One Designs is the studio I built around that conviction — that tile is a design decision before it is anything else.
Where Tile Becomes Detail
Smaller-format ceramic, hand-finished across various traditions. From Athangudi-style cement and Moorish-Iberian zellige to subway, pattern and third-fire — each category serves a different room, a different intent. None are off-the-shelf. All are curated for design specification, not procurement. The catalogue ends at a few categories. The studio does not.
Heritage Cement
Hand-poured cement tile in the Athangudi tradition — pigment cured, never baked.
Zellige Collection
Hand-glazed patterned ceramic from the Moorish-Iberian tradition — Moroccan, Portuguese Azulejo, and the lineage they share.

The industrial-era classic, reworked in proportion, glaze and edge.
